About us

Since establishment in 1985, the Macedon Ranges Montessori Preschool has provided parents with an alternative option of education in the Montessori method.

We provide a holistic approach within a supportive environment that nurtures children’s self respect. Our program focuses on developing self-discipline, self-respect and consideration for others and the environment. We use specifically designed Montessori materials, which encourage children to be;

  • Independent

  • Responsible

  • Well organised

  • Inquisitive

  • Self – motivated

  • Adaptable

Our pre-school has been in operation at the historic Primary School building site in Riddells Creek since the relocation of the Riddells Creek Primary School to a new site further down Main Rd. Under the guidance of a steering committee, dedicated and hard working parents helped renovate and restore the building, which has been well used for many years.

Macedon Ranges Montessori provides education to children from the Macedon ranges district as well as many from Sunbury, Diggers Rest and Taylors Lakes.

Macedon Ranges Montessori is a Registered Child Care Provider. Please contact the Family Assistance Office for further information on your family’s eligibility for assistance.

Pre-school Management

The Macedon ranges Montessori Preschool is an Incorporated Association. The association is a not-for-profit organisation that is responsible to the Department of Education and Training (DET) for compliance with all relevant regulations and standards. A Committee of Management undertakes the management of the preschool. Members of this committee are volunteer parents who are elected at the Annual General Meeting in October or November each year. Without continuing support from parents each year in this capacity, the preschool would be unable to continue.

The Committee of Management nominates one or more members to act as Approved Provider/s. Responsibility for the day-to-day operation of our service is delegated by the Approved Provider to a Nominated Supervisor. At this time, the Nominated Supervisor is Karlisa Smy the Lead Teacher. The DET provides a portion of the preschool funding, which is dependent on the number of eligible 4 Year olds or children attending in the year before school enrolled in the preschool.
